It is interesting how much clarity or at least the urge for clarity painful situations can bring. Sometimes it almost feels like a superpower, the courage and willingness to undergo this quest of uncovering what is covered in heavy, sticky, rigid and dense emotions.
It takes courage to feel the pain and start observing it. With full focus. No distractions. At times, perhaps most of the times, we still believe that the answer will come from somewhere outside. So, we read the books, listen to the podcasts, watch the movies and have the conversations with intimate friends and family. And this is/can be valid and helpful in pointing towards useful directions worth exploring. Someone can tell us how to walk from point A to B and still, we need to set our own feet on the path and start walking. The answer, the clarity – no matter how big or small – will echo back to us from within. The path will be walked and the destination will be reached. By us. And we will doubt it a million times. Because more often than not the cause & resolution of the pain will be something surprisingly less complicated than we thought. This is not to say that pain and painful situations are not complex. Complicated and complex are two different things. Life IS complex. Nature IS complex. Again, the curiosity and willingness to understand the complexity will deliver simplicity. Simplicity and not necessarily ease. This conversation between us and our pains, it does take time and loads of patience and, most importantly, the gentlest space. In this way the it can unravel itself.
The most astonishing part – and to many of us the most difficult part – is to accept the reality of the pain. Just accept it as it comes and be astonished as you watch it (dis)solve on its own, under the warm light of your attention.
